It took a little while for her to figure out how to do the contests, but now she is up to 4 dogs, and is having a lot of fun. My tween daughter purchased this game with her Christmas money, and it is by far her favorite game.
So I would just recommend this game for adults, or kids already through puberty. You could even teach commands. It was extremely cool, because you could draw walk routes, and train for competitions. You see, the dogs recognize commands by voice, so if your voice changes, then you have to teach them everything all over again, which takes forever. Nintendogs was my first ever game for DS. For the first couple months, I played it nonstop. But that's where the trouble started.
That's the only downfall to this edition. => the German Shepherd. Except. The doggies are cute, the contests are fun and even taking a little stroll in the park helps you bond with your puppy. I would recommend this game to all ages 7 and up. All the breeds are smart and adorable. It isn't very cute and is much harder to train.
My daughter is seven and picked up on it quickly, a lot quicker than I did. But, it is a good alternative to having a real dog around :). This is a cute game, although I bought it used and it did not come with instructions. She doesn't seem to need the instructions.
You have to buy this game. It is just like haveing your own dog you feed them, bathe them, you shop for them, and go in contests.Trust me i'm a kid and i love this game.
